As we all know, summer is by far the most popular time to move, only because kids are on summer break and people are more likely to take their vacation time in the summer. Not to mention – the weather is (most of the time) more corporative for moving rather than the snow, rain and cold.
Moving in the late summer has its perks and were about to tell you why! If your are running out of time, consider using these last minute moving tips before the summer is over and the kids are back at school!

The weather in the summer is usually sunny and hot and lately pop up thunderstorms have been appearing. For moving day, it’s best to be prepared for any weather situation mother nature gives us. It can be cooler in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Pack extra clothes in a bag and set it aside in a safe place a long with snacks and cold drinks.
Whether you are the one moving or having a moving company do the work for you, it’s always best to take extra precautions to avoid dehydration or other injuries. Keep lots of cold water, Gatorade in a iced cooler on hand for you and your moving crew. Stay away from caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as they can be dehydrate you quickly. Kids and Animals
Moving is stressful enough and it can especially be hard on kids and pets. Make sure they are in a safe place and keep hydrated. DO NOT leave them in your vehicle unattended at any point in time! Have snacks, water and activities to keep them occupied during this stressful time. Or let your kids and pets stay safe and out of the way by arranging childcare/pet care arrangements. This will ensure that your mind is at ease, its one less thing you will have to worry about on moving day.
Utilities and Address Changes
Don’t forget to update your address and transfer your utilities, you do not want to be entering your new home with no electricity, gas or water.
Registering Kids for School
Do this as early as possible as some schools have deadlines. If you haven’t done this yet or you are moving in the summer months, find a school that is close to home. Do some research, talk to your neighbours. The sooner you register your children, the sooner they can get back into routine.
